Beastmen, one of the most controversial species on Earth. To give animals a sentient body and consciousness.
These anthropomorphic genetically altered beings. Having Human DNA in order to alter their physiology and accidentally their brain size and intelligence. Their weight and height varies based on the type of Beastman and so does their intelligence, not being feral, more or less how smart they are.
Since their breeding habits and age are not the same as Humans or Mutants. Living up to about 70 years and some Beastmen types having larger litters than others. Making their population quite large compared to the other species. Their total population globally being around 2.7 billion. Mostly resigning in regions that they have not as much radiation. Due to most of them being just as vulnerable to radiation as Humans and the other organic species being.
The history behind the Beastmen is one of scientific venture. A corporation known as West Work Genetics wanted to create an alternative than using robotics and Humans soldiers during the endured warfare over seas in Europe during World War III. They came up with the idea of animal soldiers called Beastmen. The initial testing went well, however over time they grew an increased intelligence and could speak with the addition of vocal cords.
This lead the Beastmen to cause an insurgency in West Work Genetics and the countries that Beastmen were in. Until after 1 year of fighting they were recognized and given rights in the countries they were fighting for. A list of countries that they would be allowed rights would be:

However the other countries only viewed them as animals and did not give them rights. Kicking them out of restaurants and not allowing them to be allowed within certain places due to their genetics and species.
Now after the war they are extremely self kept and carry on with their own Semi-modern technology. Living on as if the wars never happened. Though are still affected due to the raiders and feral fungals. Some of them accept Humans and Mutants within their communities. However others use them as pets, slaves, or serfs. A few even using them for breeding.
